The Center for the Performing Arts is postponing its largest annual fundraising event in response to ongoing public health concerns.
Originally set for Sept. 12, the 10th Anniversary Gala presented by Krieg DeVault has been rescheduled for Sept. 17, 2021. The annual event, which last year netted more than $300,000 to support the Center’s artistic and educational programming, typically includes a dinner, auction, presentations, performances and receptions.
“We’ve spent a lot of time planning for the 2020 gala to be our best ever, and that seems unlikely under the current circumstances,” said Jeffrey C. McDermott, President/CEO of the Center and the Great American Songbook Foundation. “The event is essentially sold out, as is the trend, so we hope to keep the key details in place and gather in person with our friends and supporters next year to truly celebrate the first decade of the Center’s history.”
The previously scheduled headliner, acclaimed a cappella ensemble Straight No Chaser, has been booked again to perform on the new date. The co-chairs of this year’s Gala Committee, Carmel residents Eric and Leah Payne and Ron and Suzanne Mencias, will continue in those roles in 2021.
