Philip Warren McDowell

January 19, 1947 – May 1, 2020

Philip Warren McDowell, Sheridan, passed away on May 1, 2020 while visiting family in Florida. Philip was originally from Lake County, Ind.

After marrying Lorretta Harger, they moved to Noblesville and later retired outside of Sheridan.

Philip was born on January 19, 1947 to Arthur and Joan McDowell in Gary. Philip was a 1965 graduate of Hobart High School. Soon after graduation, while in the Army, Philip served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After his service in the military, Philip went to work at Western Electric which later became known as Lucent Technologies. Philip retired after 30 years of installing AT&T equipment for Indiana and Illinois Bell. Philip attended Cicero United Methodist Church. He was a life member of the Good Sam RV Club and he also volunteered for the Relay for Life Cancer Walks in Noblesville.

In addition to his parents, Arthur and Joan McDowell, Philip was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Loretta (Harger) McDowell. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, John, Bradley, and Bruce McDowell.

Philip is survived by his son, Scott McDowell of Central Florida; daughter, Mellissa (Woody) Brazill and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Nelson, Leesburg, Fl. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy (Byron) Buhr, Jefferson City, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Rose Mary (Bruce) McDowell, Goshen, Ind., Ans (Bradley) McDowell, St. Charles, Ill., and Juanita (John) McDowell, Highland, Ind.; and brothers-in-law, Ritch Harger and Mike Blackburn of Indiana. Philip is also survived by ex-wife, Linda Spencer Snell of Florida; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., with visitation at 11 a.m., on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville. Burial will follow at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion, the Vietnam Veterans Organization, Cornerstone Hospice of Lake County, Florida or a Hospice facility of your choice.
