Hamilton Southeastern hires Michael Kelly as head football coach

Hamilton Southeastern announced that Michael Kelly is the new head football coach for the Royals.
The school announced Kelly’s hiring on its website Wednesday afternoon. Here is the release:
“Coach Kelly has been the head coach at Seymour High School for the past three seasons. Prior to Seymour, Coach Kelly was an assistant coach (O-Line/Offensive Coordinator) for the Fishers Tigers and was on staff when the Tigers won the 6A State Championship in 2010. He started his teaching and coaching career at Central Hardin High School in Cecelia, Kentucky.
“Coach Kelly is originally from Portland, Indiana and graduated from Jay County High School and went on to play football at Taylor University. He is licensed in Physical Education and Health Education and has a Masters degree in Special Education. Coach Kelly will be teaching advanced weight training at Hamilton Southeastern High School.
“Coach Kelly and his wife Erika have three children, Karson – 12, Addison – 10, and Braxton – 7. We are excited that Erika will be teaching in the Math Department at Hamilton Southeastern High School.”
Kelly said: “My family and I are excited about the opportunity to make Hamilton Southeastern High School our home. We cannot wait to continue the legacy of excellence that has long been the staple of Hamilton Southeastern Football. Our desire is to build individuals of character and champions in life. We can’t wait to be ROYALS!!!”
Southeastern athletic director Jim Self said, “We could not be more excited to have Coach Kelly and his family join Hamilton Southeastern High School. He brings a confidence, passion, and experience that we were looking for in our next head football coach. I like what Michael stands for on and off the football field, his core values match what we think high school athletics should be about. I look forward to watching our football teams grow and compete under Coach Kelly’s leadership.”
