The Noblesville Marching Millers won the Indiana State Fair Band Day contest, which took place Saturday night at the State Fairgrounds.
The Marching Millers ended the two-year reign of Winchester, scoring 92.6 points to runner-up Winchester’s 91.0. This is the second time Noblesville has won the Band Day contest, with its first win all the way back in 1952. In between, though, the Marching Millers have been a consistent state qualifier and solid performer, having finished in the top 10 every year since 2012.
Noblesville also won the Class AAA preliminary class award, and won four of the five Preliminary Caption Awards. The Marching Millers were first in Music, Visual, General Effect and Percussion; only Kokomo won another award, in Auxiliary.
This is the fourth first-place finish this summer for Noblesville. The Marching Millers added the Band Day victory to their wins at Winchester, their own Black and Gold Invitational and the Muncie Invitational.
