Fishers Arts Council offering four-part lecture series this year

The Fishers Arts Council (FAC), with support from Nickel Plate Arts, Ignite Studio and Hamilton County Tourism, will offer a free four-part lecture series. The series is intended for artists to help with their business, community and professional skills.

Due to the COVID-19 virus, at least the first session of this series will be offered online. While intended for artists, the series is open to the public. However, registration is required.

The series takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the following Thursdays:

  • April 23: Marketing for Artists – Skill Building
  • June 25: Inside the Gallery World – Be in the Know
  • 20: Exhibiting Artists – Learn the How
  • 22: Hoosier Success Stories – Be Inspired

Background

In early 2019, FAC board member and mixed media artist Olivia Holt felt that something was missing in Hamilton County – information for artists to help them become entrepreneurs. While there are many established artists in Fishers and Hamilton County, there are always those who want to grow, to connect with their community, and to share their art.

After surveying artists and community members over the course of six months, Holt found what they wanted: Marketing help, community connections, getting into galleries and more. With this feedback, she developed her program.

In late 2019, Nickel Plate Arts recognized that several local arts groups had similar ideas to Holt’s, and with the help of Hamilton County Tourism, a 2020 season of programming was born.
