The Hamilton Heights athletic department announced that several events that were scheduled during the two weeks after Spring Break will be postponed due to the IHSAA’s mandate concerning 10 required practices before allowing athletes to participate in competitions.
Heights is scheduled to return to school on April 13.
Track and field will need four practices upon returning from Spring Break, as that sport began its season on Feb. 17. Heights athletic director Kurt Ogden said that the Huskies’ Big Orange meet is still scheduled for Saturday, April 18, but cautioned that if other schools are unable to compete, that would cause the meet to be canceled.
Heights’ softball team began practices on March 10 and got four of them in, which means the Huskies will need six practices when they return to school. The earliest date for softball games is April 20.
The Heights baseball, boys golf and girls tennis teams were to start their seasons Monday, so all of those teams will need to have 10 practices before beginning competition.
