Hamilton County Clerk Kathy Williams is asking those who are eligible to file for an absentee ballot to do so – especially those who are sick or older than 65 years of age.

“Older adults and people with serious chronic health conditions are at a higher risk of contracting COVID-19,” Williams says. “We’d like to limit their exposure to the virus by encouraging them to vote from the comfort of their home.”
Registered voters can vote absentee by mail for a number of reasons, among them:
- If they are confined to their residence, hospital or nursing home due to illness
- If they are caring for someone who is confined
- If they are 65 years of age or older
Those wishing to vote by mail must submit an application by midnight on Thursday, April 23. Click here to download the application. You can also call (317) 776-8476 and make a request for an application over the phone.
Once you have voted, you can submit your application by fax, by mail or by email. All mailed-in ballots must be received by the Election Office on or before noon on Election Day.
“We highly discourage those voting absentee to return their ballots in person,” said Williams. “Just like any business, Hamilton County is working to help reduce transmission among staff and maintain business operations. We encourage citizens to do as much of their county business online, over the phone or by mail as possible.”
