Starting this weekend, Aug. 5-12, Grand Park is hosting the 2017 Little League Baseball Central Region Tournament. This will be the first year that this tournament is being held at Grand Park.
The 2017 Little League Softball Central Region Tournament just concluded at Grand Park on Saturday, July 29.
“We had great success with the Little League Softball Region Tournament and are looking forward to the excitement of also hosting the Little League Baseball Central Region Tournament,” said Westfield Mayor Andy Cook. “We enjoy the excitement that these tournaments bring to the Grand Park and to Westfield.”
This year’s event includes 12 teams, six from the Great Lakes region (Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin) and six from the Midwest region (Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and North and South Dakota). The event will officially kick off this Saturday in the Grand Park Events Center with a Welcome Picnic from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. followed by the Opening Ceremonies from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m.
“We are very grateful for the opportunity of hosting the Central Region Tournaments at the Grand Park Sports Campus and are looking forward to the excitement that the tournament atmosphere creates each year,” said Patrick Wilson, Little League International Tournament Director and Senior Vice President of Operations and Program Development. “With its proximity to Indianapolis, this Campus will be a great temporary home to our tournaments, as our staff and volunteers continue to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all the participating players and coaches.”
Games begin Sunday morning through Friday evening for the double elimination rounds with the single elimination championship rounds concluding the tournament on Saturday.
ESPN3 will be streaming all games from Sunday through Wednesday, ESPN2 will show the Thursday games, and ESPN will air the final games Friday and Saturday.
The PBR Future Games will wrap up on Saturday and USA Archery will be finishing this Sunday for Outdoor Nationals.
