Feb. 21, 1930 – Jan. 2, 2020
Lois Eileen (Miller) Cook, 89, died peacefully on Jan. 2, 2020 at Majestic Care of Avon, where she had resided since August 2019. She was born Feb. 21, 1930 in Hamilton County to Ovis and Myrtle (Cast) Miller, who preceded her in death. Lois graduated from Noblesville High School in 1948, and on Dec. 10, 1949, she married Richard “Dick” Cook of Noblesville. Their marriage lasted 60 years until Dick’s death in May of 2010.
During the late 1950s Lois became an “Avon Lady,” working part-time while raising her daughters. Her success and love of selling Avon products led to her being promoted to a full-time District Sales Manager for Avon. She retired from this position in 1987, after many years of making many friends and lasting relationships throughout the four-county district that she covered.
Lois and Dick enjoyed over 20 years in retirement together, dividing their time between Florida and Noblesville, until 2004’s Hurricane Charley convinced them to sell their Florida home. They resided in Noblesville year-round thereafter.
Lois is survived by her two daughters, Jane (Ed) Wetzel, Indianapolis, and Judy (Tom) Cvetinovich, Carmel; two grandchildren, Mindy Wetzel, Austin, Texas, and Kyle Wetzel, Saint Paul, Minn.; nieces, Beverly (DeVaney) Buzan, Kokomo, and Nancy (Grepp) Jones, Spencer, Ind.; and nephews David Grepp, Solon, Ohio, and Si DeVaney, Martinsville.
She was preceded in death by her only sibling, Ada Muriel (Miller) Grepp; and her niece, Karen (DeVaney) Huber. Her ashes are interred in Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville. Services are private.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made in Lois’s name to a dementia/Alzheimer’s research foundation of the donor’s choice.
