Braves beat GC on buzzer-beater

Guerin Catholic lost a tough first-round game at Class 3A Sectional 27 Tuesday at Shortridge, as Brebeuf Jesuit beat the Golden Eagles 58-56 on a buzzer-beater.
The Braves led 19-12 after the first quarter, but Guerin came back to tie the game at halftime, 29-29. The Golden Eagles then took a 46-40 lead by the end of the third period, and led by 51-44 midway through the fourth before Brebeuf made its comeback.
Four Guerin Catholic players reached double figures, led by Kaleb Edwards with 15 points. Bernie McGuinness and Cameron Weitzel both added 11 points, while Joseph Bobilya scored 10 and pulled five rebounds. Weitzel and Matthew Gillis both collected five rebounds as well.
The Golden Eagles finished their season 15-8.
