Timmy Hildebrand’s win at the Northern Amateur last week has moved up the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
Hildebrand, a Westfield graduate and Purdue junior, jumped 37 places to No. 125 in this week’s WAGR list, which was released Wednesday morning. The move reflects both Hildebrand’s play and the strength of the tournament, which was listed as a Category E event by the rankings. (Tournaments are rated “A” through “G.”)
There are a handful of other Hamilton County golfers in the WAGR, which has nearly 6000 men on the list. Graham McAree, a Hamilton Southeastern graduate and senior at the University of Indianapolis, is ranked No. 600. Another HSE alumnus, Johnny Watts (a senior at Ball State) jumped 21 sports to No. 665 after placing eighth in the Northern Amateur.
Carmel’s Jake Brown, a redshirt junior at Indiana, is ranked No. 764, while recent IU graduate, Carmel’s Andrew Havill, is rated No. 986, moving up 106 spots.
