Floyd Richard Russell

June 18, 1937 – February 22, 2020

Floyd Richard Russell, 82, Fishers, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at IU Health Saxony surrounded by his family. He was born June 18, 1937 to John and Marie Russell in Fishers.

Floyd married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Whisman. He joined the National Guard and served in it for many years. Floyd farmed with his father for a few years. Once he left the farming industry, he had various different careers ending with a profession as a service technician in the same packaging business with his son, David. Floyd obtained his pilot’s license. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed teaching anyone who would learn, especially his grandchildren. Floyd was beloved by all who met him and always had a joke to tell. He was always ready to play Euchre and had a tournament every Thanksgiving with his family.

Floyd was a member of The Christ Community Church in Owensboro, Ky. He was always very active in leadership in his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, John Mark.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Charlotte Russell; children, Stephen and David (Lisa); grandchildren, Stefanie (Drew), Nickolas, Lexi and Cole; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Aiden; one sister, Virginia Lake (Dudley); one brother, Johnny (Donna); and a host of family too numerus to mention.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers. Services will be held following visitation. The graveside service will be held at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville following the service.

A special thanks is extended to all the doctors and nurses who assisted with Floyd’s care at IU Health Saxony.
