Westfield held off Franklin Central 68-66 in a back-and-forth Hoosier Crossroads Conference game Friday at The Rock.
The Flashes leaped out to a 25-19 lead after the first quarter, but the Shamrocks took control in the second period, allowing FC only eight points. As a result, Westfield led 38-33 at halftime. The ‘Rocks added to their and were up 55-45 after three quarters, then held off a Franklin Central comeback in the fourth.
Braden Smith scored 26 points for Westfield, including five 3-pointers, and also handed out eight assists and pulled seven rebounds. Nic DePasquale added 19 points and Cam Haffner scored 18 points.
The Shamrocks finished up HCC play with this game, and are 4-3 in the league. Westfield is 14-6 overall and plays at New Castle tonight.
