Elmer Eldo Bosworth

Elmer Eldo Bosworth, 101, Noblesville, completed his journey of his earthly life on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, and went on to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, joining his wife of 74 years, Margaret Lytle Bosworth, who died in 2011.

Elmer was a minister, teacher, student, husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed his hobby of woodworking.

He is survived by his son, Milton ‘Gus’ (Beverly) Bosworth; daughters, Marcia (Dale) Lafferee, E. Marlene (Craig) Ruch, Cynthia (Steven) Hall and Micheil (Bill) Anderson; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Elmer was preceded in death by a son, Meredith Bosworth; his parents, Eldo and Laura; and seven siblings, Joe, Raymond, Wilma, Carl, Richard, Bobby and Jimmy.

A 1938 graduate of Rossville High School, Elmer attended the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill., but his studies were interrupted in 1944 when he entered the U. S. Army where he served in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon returning to the U.S., he enrolled, using the G.I. Bill, at Indiana Central College (U Indy) where he studied to be an Evangelical United Brethren minister. He later completed his Master of Divinity Degree at the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, in 1959.

Elmer served churches in Georgetown, Atlanta, Edwardsville, Noblesville, Sardinia, Indianapolis, Evansville, Scottsburg, Clinton and Oakland City for the Indiana southern district of the United Methodist Church.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 with calling two hours prior to the service at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 1600 Cumberland Road, Noblesville. There will be private family burial services in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, Ind.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 16000 Cumberland Road, Noblesville, IN 46060; or the United Theological Seminary, 4501 Denlinger Road, Dayton, OH 45426 for the support of the Elmer Bosworth Scholarship Fund.
