Westfield was swept by Brownsburg in a Friday Hoosier Crossroads Conference girls-boys doubleheader at the Bulldogs’ gymnasium.
The Shamrocks girls lost 44-31. Brownsburg led 9-8 after the first quarter and 19-16 at halftime, then pulled away in the period by outscoring Westfield 10-3.
Alyssa Crockett reached double-double status with 14 rebounds and 13 points. Ava Henson collected six rebounds.
In the boys game, the ‘Rocks fell to conference-leading Brownsburg 65-50; the Bulldogs are 4-0 in the league. Brownsburg outscored Westfield in each quarter, although the Shamrocks kept it close, as they were within 15-14 after the first quarter and 22-20 at halftime. But the Bulldogs took over in the second half, outscoring the ‘Rocks 43-30.
Braden Smith poured in 26 points, including four 3-pointers, and also had seven rebounds and four assists. Cam Haffner added 10 points.
Westfield’s girls are 3-4 in HCC play and 13-9 overall, and finish the regular season Tuesday by hosting Greensburg. The Shamrocks boys are 2-2 in the conference and 9-9 overall, and play at Tri-West tonight.
