‘Rocks stun Bronchos

Westfield snapped its two-game losing streak in a big way on Saturday, beating Class 4A No. 4 Lafayette Jefferson 75-68 at the Bronchos’ gym.
The Shamrocks led 18-15 after the first quarter, then pulled away in the second period to take a 39-23 halftime lead. Lafayette Jeff closed the gap some in the second half, but Westfield held on for the win.
Braden Smith had another outstanding game, scoring 27 points, handing out nine assists and pulling five rebounds. Cam Haffner had 14 points and five rebounds, and Eli Patchett and Nic DePasquale both scored 12. The ‘Rocks drained 13 3-pointers: Haffner and Patchett each made four 3s, with Smith hitting three triples.
Westfield is 9-2 and plays a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game Friday at Brownsburg.
