The Noblesville gymnastics team began its season Saturday at the Franklin Central Invitational.
The Millers scored a 79.05 and placed fifth out of nine schools. Coach Jody Ramey, beginning her 18th season as Noblesville head coach, said that her team consisted of seven new faces and three returning gymnasts, and will be a rebuilding year.
“This season is only just the beginning of our competition season and as the team begins to unify and gain the skills we are looking forward to the progress that this team will create throughout this season,” said Ramey. The coach said she is proud of the team, saying that each gymnast “has gained many new skills already and our goal today was just to do our best that we could and build from this point.”
Senior Ella Deno, one of the three returning gymnasts, competed in the all-around and scored 25.65, while new athlete Lexi Reister, a sophomore, scored 25.00. Reister and another new face, sophomore Haley Knoll, tied for the highest individual score of the day, as both earned a 7.75 on vault.
