The Fishers Arts Council celebrates the art of Jeannette Pomeroy Parssi next month in a show titled, “Dreaming in Color.” She says that “Experts tell us that colors stimulate emotions.” This is what she tries to do in her show – stimulate emotions through mostly oil paintings on canvas. The show begins Jan. 4 with a free public reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10.
Parssi
In her artist statement, it is written that, “Often we do not find our path in life until we see it below our feet.” An Ohio native, Parssi found that path in 1994 when she left the corporate world to pursue art. She has studied with renowned artists Graham Nickson, dean of the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture; and Miroslov Antic, instructor at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
She has traveled extensively to many locales in Europe to hone her craft, sometimes alone, at other times as part of a group, but always with the goal of becoming a better artist.
In an interview with The Palm Beacher Magazine, Joella Cain described Parssi as “Refreshing, talented, nice, unjaded – all adjectives that best describe this unpretentious artist. She is a painter who views the world through rose-colored glasses and chooses to see the positive rather than the negative. This shows in her paintings, which exude upbeat, bright colors instead of drab, downtrodden hues.”
