Noblesville Schools announced Wednesday that it will launch a new program aimed at honoring and building strong relationships with first responders. “Hungry, Hungry Heroes” will offer a complimentary lunch once a month to all Noblesville police and fire first responders, including emergency medical technicians and school resource officers.

Starting in January, first responders are invited to stop by any of the district’s 10 schools on the first Friday of the month for a free lunch in the school cafeteria with students. The schools offer a wide variety of lunch options every day, including a large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables.

“The goal of this program is to continue to enhance the strong partnership that exists between Noblesville Schools and our local first responders,” said Heather Hendrich, safety director for Noblesville Schools. “This is a great way to honor their contributions to the community while offering our students more opportunities to interact with and learn from these important role models. Ultimately this all leads to safer and more positive school environments.”

The program is possible thanks to a grant from the Noblesville Schools Education Foundation that will provide initial funding for the lunches.

“The Education Foundation is thrilled that Hungry, Hungry Heroes is coming to our schools,” added Noblesville Schools Education Foundation Director Adriann Young. “We see this as an outstanding opportunity to encourage students and first responders in creating meaningful relationships. The impact of this grant investment will stretch beyond the classroom to build connections that truly affect our entire community.”

The district will be communicating directly with local agencies to provide additional logistical details regarding the program.
