‘Hounds sail past Evansville Reitz

Carmel picked up its second straight victory on Saturday, sailing past Evansville Reitz 63-37 as part of the FORUM Tipoff Classic at Southport.
The Greyhounds were in control right away, leading 20-9 after the first quarter. The game tightened up in the middle quarters, with the Cougars cutting Carmel’s lead to 30-23 by halftime. Reitz, which came into the contest undefeated, was still within 39-30 after three quarters, but the ‘Hounds ran away with the game by outscoring the Cougars 24-7 in the fourth.
Peter Suder scored 21 points and collected eight rebounds, also hitting three 3-pointers and blocking two shots. Charlie Williams added 12 points and seven rebounds. Conner Gioia handed out four assists.
Carmel is 3-2 and hosts old rival North Central Friday in a Metropolitan Conference game.
