Carmel to swear-in new elected officials

The city of Carmel will conduct a swearing-in ceremony for newly-elected officials at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 in Multipurpose Room A/B/C at the Monon Community Center, 1235 Central Park Drive East.

Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch will be in attendance to administer the oaths of offices. A reception with light refreshments will follow the ceremony and take place in Multipurpose Room C. The event will conclude by 6:30 p.m.

After each city election, the city of Carmel hosts an official inauguration ceremony for newly elected and returning public officials. This year, because Carmel has become a 2nd Class City, there will be two new seats on the Carmel City Council. Candidates will take their oath of office during this ceremony and be sworn in as they prepare to take their positions as elected officials on Jan. 1, 2020.
