December 3, 1950 – December 4, 2019
David Wayne “Dave” Sanders, 69, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 4, 2019 at his home in Boone County surrounded by his loving family. Born December 3, 1950 in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Carl E. and Peggy L. (Strough) Sanders.
He was a soldier in the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. Shortly after returning home from the war, Dave married the love of his life, Ginger Fisher, on November 11, 1972. They would spend the next 47 years by each other’s side, raising their five children and creating a lifetime of memories.
A lifelong resident of Boone County, Dave attended Zionsville High School. He was a painter by trade and was the owner Sanders Painting for over 40 years. Dave was a true outdoorsman. He loved hunting and was passionate about raising his hunting dogs. He and his dogs received numerous awards through the years. Dave also enjoyed farming. If he wasn’t painting or out in the woods, you could most likely find him either working on his tractor or out in the garden with one of the grandkids in tow.
Dave never met a stranger. He made new friends everywhere he went. He always had a new joke to share and had a natural talent for making people laugh.
Dave was a 50-year member of the Whitestown American Legion Post 410.
There was nothing more important in Dave’s life than his family, especially when it came to his grandchildren; they were his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Ginger (Fisher) Sanders, Zionsville; four sons, Trace W. Fisher, Zionsville, John C. Sanders, Zionsville, Andrew M. Sanders, Indianapolis, and Brandon K. Sanders (Kari), Noblesville; his daughter, Amanda K. Neal (Donald), Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, Sarah Fisher, Liam Wiseman, Charles Wiseman, Lillian Neal, Lola Sanders, Elston Sanders, Ophelia Sanders and Juniper Sanders; one great-grandchild, Lincoln Bell; three brothers, Dennis Sanders (Debbie), Zionsville, Forrest Sanders, Zionsville, and Gary Sanders (Lee Ann), Lebanon; and way too many nieces and nephews to mention.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Karlina Sanders and Maryann Wagoner.
Services with Military Honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan.
