Westfield dropped a hard-fought game at Mount Vernon, 46-42 on Wednesday.
The Shamrocks led 7-6 after the first quarter and were ahead 17-13 at halftime. But the Marauders made a comeback in the third quarter, and held a 27-25 lead by the end of the period. Mount Vernon then outscored Westfield 19-17 in the fourth.
Ava Henson scored 18 points to lead the ‘Rocks, with Alyssa Crockett adding 11, including three 3-pointers. Crockett also pulled 10 rebounds for a double-double, with Henson collecting five. Henson, Crockett and Chesney Tebbe all had two blocked shots.
Westfield is 4-4 and hosts Rushville on Saturday afternoon.
