The Hamilton Southeastern swim teams scored a sweep at Avon on Tuesday.
In the girls meet, the Royals won 131-54. Southeastern won nine of the 12 events, including seven individual victories: Ellie Pedersen in the 200 freestyle, Anna Stolle in the individual medley, Sarah Ballard in diving, Bri Saple in the butterfly, Amelia Vicory in the 100 free, Kayleigh Witt in the 500 free and Madison Kertin in the breaststroke. Southeastern also got first place in the medley and 400 free relays.
“Your Royals looked strong and were able to use some spots for younger members of the team to step up and show how hard they have been working in practice,” said HSE coach Andy Pedersen. “It was all about opportunities and many team members were very opportunistic this evening.”
Southeastern’s boys team won 124-61, also finishing first in nine events. Andrew Christopher was a double winner in the 50 free and backstroke. Other individual victories came from Keegan Streett in the IM, AJ Ricafort in diving, Connor Harrison in the butterfly, DJ Rogers in the 100 free and Zack Bostock in the breaststroke. Southeastern won the medley and 400 free relays as well.
“This was an inspirational victory for a team that has very high goals – this team really showed some maturity by realizing that this meet also pointed out some areas to focus on,” said Pedersen. “Starts and turns need improvement – we are asking these young men to accept that challenge and look to the future.”
