Noblesville Diversity Coalition invites you to “Harriet” viewing party

The Noblesville Diversity Coalition (NDC) is presenting a special discussion about the life of Harriet Tubman, her escape from slavery in 1849 and transformation into one of America’s greatest heroes.

The Harriet Movie Watch Party will be held on Sunday, Nov. 3 at the GQT Hamilton 16 IMAX, located within Hamilton Town Center, 3285 Norell Road. Noblesville.

Moviegoers are encouraged to purchase tickets and attend that day’s 1:30 p.m. showing of the upcoming motion picture produced by Focus Features, directed by Kasi Lemmons (Eve’s Bayou) and starring Cynthia Erivo as the famed freedom fighter who changed the course of history. The film is rated PG-13.

A free public discussion about Harriet will follow at 4 p.m. in the GQT Hamilton 16 IMAX mezzanine located on the second floor of the theatre.

“Harriet Tubman is an American icon and remains one of the most extraordinary women in history,” said Lisa Sobek, a member of the NDC executive council. “While most know about Ms. Tubman’s leadership role in the underground railroad, she was so much more – nurse, abolitionist, advocate for the women’s suffrage movement, civil rights activist and the first woman in America to conduct an armed military raid. We look forward to watching the film together and discussing the many prominent roles she played in American history.”
