Noblesville Schools announced Thursday that the Noblesville High School (NHS) girls basketball team has established a scholarship fund in honor of recently deceased NHS basketball legends Krissi Davis and Courtney Cox Cole.
“Honoring the legacy of these two amazing women means so much to me and to our whole basketball program,” said Donna Buckley, Noblesville High School girls varsity basketball coach. “Krissi and Courtney were role models in basketball and in life, representing excellence on and off the floor. This scholarship will give today’s students an opportunity to follow in their footsteps by pursuing their dreams and making a difference in the lives of others.”
The scholarship fund will be managed through the Noblesville Schools Education Foundation (NSEF) and will provide financial assistance each year for senior members of the NHS girls basketball team.
The team will celebrate the legacies of Davis and Cox Cole at Nov. 9, games in their honor. The junior varsity game tips off at 5 p.m. and the varsity game will start at approximately 6:30 p.m. Proceeds from both games will go towards the scholarship fund.
Custom Krissi/Courtney T-shirts may be purchased through the Noblesville Girls Basketball Club at noblesvillegbc.com before Oct. 28, with all proceeds going to the scholarship fund. Community members interested in contributing can also make a donation directly to NSEF c/o the Courtney Cox Cole and Krissi Davis Scholarship. NSEF donations can be made online at noblesvilleschools.org or by mailing a check to 18025 River Road, Noblesville, IN 46062.
The Davis and Cox families have expressed interest in establishing additional scholarship funds in honor of Krissi and Courtney with more details to come.
