Volleyball: Royals clinch undefeated HCC championship

The Hamilton Southeastern volleyball team clinched an undefeated Hoosier Crossroads Conference championship on Thursday.
The Royals completed the perfect HCC season at Franklin Central, sweeping the Flashes 25-16, 25-13, 25-13. Abby Weber led the way with 15 digs, five aces and five kills.
Delaney Garner hit 12 kills, with Grace Hunter putting down eight kills. Carly Mills collected 17 digs, while Kyla Berg had 11 digs.
“Incredible accomplishment to win the HCC championship,” said Southeastern coach Jason Young.
The Royals finished conference play 7-0 and their regular season 23-4. Southeastern will play next Thursday in the Noblesville sectional, taking on Westfield.

Westfield swept Fishers 25-22, 25-19, 25-18 in an HCC match Thursday at the Tiger Den.
The Shamrocks completed conference play 4-3 and are 19-8 overall, while Fishers finished its HCC season 3-4 and the regular season 13-13. Westfield will play at the Lawrence North Invitational on Saturday, while the Tigers take on Noblesville next Thursday in sectional play at The Mill.

Noblesville fell to Brownsburg in four sets Thursday in an HCC match.
Lexie Almodovar had 13 assists, 11 kills, nine digs and two aces for the Millers. Riley Branch contributed 13 assists, eight digs and two aces. Diana Cox collected 14 digs, while Ella Peter added nine kills and four blocks.
Rose Crist had six kills and two blocks, Sydney Sparks picked up five digs, Mandy Knieper hit four kills and Olivia Gulley had four digs.
Noblesville finished conference play 1-6 and is 10-17 for the season. The Millers compete at the Carmel Invitational on Saturday.

 

ABOVE: The Sheridan volleyball team honored its seniors, Becca Merritt, Cheyenne Brooks and Mia Brooks, during a Thursday night varsity-only game with Hamilton Heights. The Blackhawks’ original match with Tri-Central was postponed, so the Huskies filled in to give the Sheridan seniors a Senior Night match. A score from the meet was unavailable at press time.
