The Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank, along with a sold-out crowd of guests and donors, enjoyed its fourth annual Harvest Blessings event and fundraiser at Blackhawk Winery in Sheridan on Sept. 20.
Helping make the evening a success were Gold Sponsors, The Farmers Bank and St. Vincent Ascension. Silver Sponsors were First Merchants, Barnes and Thornburg LLP, Gaylor Electric, Martin Dentistry and Ryan Fire Protection. North End BBQ with Chef Ryan Nelson provided a great meal and Dave Lowe entertained with wonderful music and singing throughout the evening.
Emcee Wil Hampton spoke to the crowd of 150 people about HCHFB’s work of stocking 40 food pantries and helping meal programs for students in six school districts during the summer and weekend backsack programs during the school year. The Food Bank spends $5,200 per week in food and services throughout Hamilton County.
During the evening, there were raffles, a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. Deb and John Miller of Blackhawk Winery offered wine tastings.
Everyone had a chance to learn how to hit the target with the mobile unit of Anarchy Axe throwing. Targeting hunger is a goal HCHFB shares with all wanting to help those who experience food insecurity.
The Food Bank sincerely thanks its many donors and volunteers who made the evening so special. HCHFB could not continue its work without the generous donation of time, talent and treasure.
HCHFB says it will start distributing yellow barrels very soon to schools and businesses for food drives to keep pantry shelves stocked. If you would like to have a barrel in your building, visit HCHFoodBank.org.
