On or after Monday, Oct. 7, Main Street and Guilford Road in Carmel will be closed for 60 days, weather and utility relocation permitting, to replace the signalized intersection with a roundabout. This phase will complete the Guilford Boulevard Project.
The city of Carmel appreciates the community’s patience as the improvements to safety and beautification of this area along Guilford Boulevard are finalized, which includes the area directly in front of Carmel Middle School. At the completion of the project from City Center Drive to Main Street, Guilford will be a beautifully landscaped boulevard.
The city says the safety of students and families walking or biking to and from the school was a high priority when planning this project. To increase pedestrian safety and enhance access in the area, multi-use paths and crosswalks were added and older sidewalks were replaced. Drainage in the area was also improved with the storm water features that were added.
Detour Map and additional details will be available through CarmelLink.
