Soccer: Noblesville finishes regular season with HCC win

The Noblesville boys soccer team finished its regular season Thursday with a 5-1 Hoosier Crossroads Conference victory at Brownsburg.
The Class 3A No. 10 Millers led 1-0 at halftime, with Palmer Ault scoring the goal. Noblesville poured it on in the second half with four goals: Garrett Poynter converted a penalty kick, Spencer Holland scored from inside the penalty area, Drew Barnes added a goal and Brendon Fisher scored his first varsity goal.
The Millers completed the regular season with a 5-2 HCC record, good for third place, and are 11-2-2 overall. Noblesville hosts Pendleton Heights Monday in the first round of Sectional 8 play.

Guerin Catholic, ranked No. 7 in 2A, fell to 3A No. 1 Zionsville 3-1 on Thursday.
Keegan Perhacs scored the Golden Eagles’ goal. Guerin Catholic finished the regular season 8-4-3, and will play 2A No. 6 Cardinal Ritter Monday in first-round action at Sectional 26 at Brebeuf Jesuit.

GIRLS GAMES
Guerin Catholic upset 3A No. 8 Fishers 1-0 on Thursday.
Anna Heck scored the Golden Eagles’ goal. Guerin Catholic finished the regular season 5-6-2, while the Tigers completed the regular season 8-2-5.
The Golden Eagles play Pike in first-round action at Sectional 10 Tuesday at Carmel. Fishers will play Pendleton Heights, also on Tuesday, in the first round of Sectional 8 at Hamilton Southeastern.

Hamilton Heights beat Sheridan 6-0 in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Six different players scored for the 2A No. 18 Huskies, who finished their season 10-2-4: Jenna Peterson, Emily Stirn, Emma Hall, Cassidy Felger, Maria Mitchell and Shanna Moffatt.
Heights will play Jay County Tuesday in the first round of Sectional 24 at New Castle. The Blackhawks host Sectional 37 and will play Eastern in the first round, also on Tuesday.
