Volleyball: Royals stay perfect in HCC play

The Hamilton Southeastern volleyball team remained perfect in Hoosier Crossroads Conference play by beating Zionsville in straight sets on Thursday.
The Royals won 25-13, 25-16, 25-17. Carly Mills collected 18 digs, while Lillian Leiner had 14 digs. On offense, Abby Weber put down 15 kills, while Olivia Phillips handed out 20 assists, and Emily Weber dished out 17 assists and hit four kills. Grace Hunter had 13 digs and eight kills.
“I thought both middles were excellent tonight,” said Royals coach Jason Young. “Delaney Garner with 10 kills and Maddie Cole with 7 kills. Our setters made great decisions.”
Southeastern is now 5-0 in HCC play and 14-4 overall. The Royals return to action Saturday at the Brebeuf Jesuit Invitational.

Noblesville picked up its first HCC victory of the season on Thursday, sweeping Franklin Central 25-20, 31-29, 25-15 at The Mill.
Lexie Almodovar led the way for the Millers, with 17 kills, 17 assists, 12 digs and two blocks. Riley Branch had 17 assists and three aces, while Diana Cox contributed 15 digs and two aces.
Abby Johnson had nine digs and two aces, while Ella Peter had three blocks and two kills. Mandy Knieper hit 10 kills, Olivia Gulley collected six digs, Gabby Weihe served one ace and Anna Kiser had one block.
Noblesville is 8-12 overall and will play at the Yorktown Invitational on Saturday.

Sheridan dropped a three-set match to Lapel on Thursday, 25-11, 25-8, 25-12.
Allie Delph contributed seven digs, four kills and two aces for the Blackhawks. Becca Merritt had four kills and two solo blocks. Taylor Bates handed out nine assists.
In the junior varsity match, Sheridan lost 25-22, 25-10. Lilly Chesney had three digs, two kills and one ace. Autumn Hayden hit four kills, Kayla Beahrs picked up six digs and Zoey Fisher contributed six assists and six digs.
The Blackhawks are 6-18 and will travel to Rossville on Tuesday for a Hoosier Heartland Conference match.

Fishers was swept by Avon 27-25, 25-23, 25-12 in a Thursday HCC match.
The Tigers are 3-3 in the conference and 11-10 overall. Fishers next plays at Mount Vernon on Tuesday.
