The Westfield boys soccer team won its own Invitational on Saturday.
In their first game, the Shamrocks beat Park Tudor 8-1. Juniors David Green and Ben Wallace both scored two goals, with seniors Andrew Roe and Sean Ford, junior Jordan Donsky and sophomore Declan Wheeler all getting one goal. Wallace also had two assists, with junior Drew Scanlon and senior Zach Roberts helping to set up goals.
“The boys soccer team put together a solid performance to take care of business with everyone getting in on the action,” said Westfield coach Matt Steinbrink.
The ‘Rocks beat Culver Academies 2-1 in the championship game. Westfield scored one goal in each half. Green scored the first goal after Wallace won a ball in the box and played it across to the back side of the goal, where Green put it in.
Culver tied it up in the second half. Late in the half, Colin Maris drove a ball up the field. Wallace was able to run onto it before being taken down in the box. The Shamrocks received a penalty kick, which senior captain Miguel Ayala put into the goal.
Notable defensive performances were made by seniors Max Von Arx and Brady Drlik and junior Ellis Douthit. Senior Aiden Huddleston got the win in goal.
Westfield is 5-5 for the season.
Noblesville picked up two victories over Fort Wayne area teams at White River Elementary on Saturday.
The Millers beat Homestead 2-0 in their first game of the day. Spencer Holland scored a first-half goal, then Drew Barnes added another goal in the second half, off an assist by Harrison Christman.
In its second game of the day, Noblesville defeated Fort Wayne Northrop, also by a score of 2-0. Holland got both goals, with Christman and Kyle Goad making one assist each.
The Millers are 6-1-1 for the season.
Hamilton Heights beat Tipton 2-0 in the seventh-place game of the Hoosier Conference tournament, which took place Saturday at Northwestern.
Lance Jones and Ethan Aspy scored goals for the Huskies, who are now 2-6-1.
Carmel beat Columbus North 4-0 in a Friday night game at Murray Stadium.
Four different seniors scored a goal for the Greyhounds: Drew Finkam, Jackson Monsey, Noah Green and Jackson Hoover. Finkam also had an assist, as did seniors Sam Thiel and Gabe Moorman and sophomore Baenan Mckeown. Moorman, senior Griffin Seitz and junior Henry Geisel combined for the shutout.
“What a good night,” said Carmel coach Shane Schmidt. “I’m proud of the effort everyone gave on a night where an important message is delivered.”
The ‘Hounds are 5-3-1 and next play Tuesday at North Central.
Guerin Catholic played to a 2-2 tie with Louisville Trinity Lutheran on Saturday at the Golden Eagles’ field.
Tommy Hartman scored a first-half goal for Guerin Catholic, with Daniel Cloran getting a goal in the second half. The Golden Eagles are 6-2-1.
Sheridan fell to Liberty Christian 3-1 on Saturday.
The Lions scored quickly in the first half and maintained their lead for the whole game as they added two more goals in the second half. Sheridan sophomore Austin Bond scored his first goal to make sure that the Blackhawks wouldn’t be shut out. Senior goalkeeper Nick Roberts had 20 saves.
Sheridan is 2-2 for the season.
Fishers dropped a 3-2 game to Columbus East on Saturday.
The Olympians led 2-0 at halftime. The Tigers got second-half goals from Kevin Natzel and Angel Roque Granados. Natzel and Reese May both made one assist.
Fishers is 6-3 for the season.
