‘Hounds stay perfect in MIC

Carmel improved to 2-0 in Metropolitan Conference play with a 24-7 victory at Pike on Friday.
The first quarter was tight, as it ended in a 7-7 tie. Dylan Downing got the Greyhounds on the board first, punching the ball in from the one-yard line. The Red Devils followed that up with a 22-yard run to score.
But Carmel took control after that, not allowing Pike anymore points. Zach Osborne put the ‘Hounds up for good with a one-yard TD run in the second quarter. Carmel added 10 more points in the fourth quarter, with Spencer Hanna kicking a 26-yard field goal, then Zach White scored on a six-yard un midway through the period.
Downing had another solid running game, gaining 140 yards on 18 carries. Osborne was efficient in passing, with 178 yards at a 12-of-23 clip. Zach Gish and Aidan Ellison both made three catches. Hanna was perfect by making all three extra point kicks in addition to his field goal.
The Greyhounds are 3-1 and return to Carmel Stadium next Friday to host Lawrence North.
