Soccer: Fishers boys top Noblesville, 2-1

Fishers dealt Noblesville its first loss of the season on Tuesday, with the Tigers winning 2-1 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game on their field.
Fishers scored the first goal of the game, with Reese May chipping the ball in. The Tigers scored again in the second half to take a 2-0 lead. The Millers got their goal with less than two minutes to play, with Garrett Poynter making a header into the net.

Carmel picked up a 2-1 win over Brebeuf Jesuit Tuesday at Murray Stadium.
Baenan Mckeown scored in the first half for the Greyhounds, with Sam Thiel making the assist. Drew Finkam scored the game-winning goal, assisted by Mckeown.
“It was great to get the win tonight,” said Carmel coach Shane Schmidt. “I don’t feel that we possessed the ball as well as we have the past couple of games, but we were able to find the back of the net. We’ll continue to work on our pattern play and communication.”

Hamilton Southeastern won a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game Tuesday at Avon, 1-0.
The Royals scored their goal in the first half, with Kam Greenwald connecting on a kick from around the six-yard box. Brendan Hench provided the assist. Jacob Kane got the shutout, including a couple of saves.

Hamilton Heights dropped a 5-1 game to Anderson Tuesday at the Huskies’ field.
The Indians scored their first goal a minute and a half into the game, but Heights answered quickly after that. Gerson Martinez found the back of the net off a cross by Tyler Grabarz. But Anderson scored again with 20 minutes to go before halftime, then added three more goals in the second half.
Martinez was the Huskies’ player of the game. Marcus Shaffer recorded five saves while Jackson McCullough had three.

University fell to Park Tudor 3-2 on Tuesday.

GIRLS GAMES
Guerin Catholic beat Covenant Christian 9-1 on Tuesday, improving to 3-0 in Circle City Conference play.
Alyssa Ferry, Sarah Stagge, Anna Schultheis and Caroline Quinn all scored goals in the second half for the Golden Eagles.

Hamilton Heights took care of Hoosier Conference opponent Northwestern 7-1 on Tuesday.
Caitlin Hartwick scored two goals and made an assist. Kyndall Fergsuson added two goals and Cassidy Felger had one. Emily Stirn and Jenna Peterson both added one goal, with Peterson handing out two assists. Emma Hall also had two assists and Jayla Logan had one.
The Huskies are 2-1-2 and play at University today.

Sheridan dropped an 11-0 game at Taylor on Tuesday.
Coach Brian Prange said that goalkeeper Melody Garcia was the player of the game, saying “she did her very best to keep the ball out of the back of the net” for the Blackhawks. Prange said in the second half, “the girls did start to move the ball a little better and had a few good chances to get their first goal of the season.”
