The Carmel boys tennis team won the John Shirley Invitational, which took place Saturday at North Central.
The No. 1-ranked Greyhounds scored 48 points and finished first in three flights. Presley Thieneman won the No. 1 singles division, Uday Lamada and Jonesy McNamara were first in No. 1 doubles, and John Zirklebach and Ethan Zhang won at No. 2 doubles. Carmel finished as runner-up in No. 2 singles and third in No. 3 singles.
Hamilton Southeastern placed seventh with 13 points. The No. 20-ranked Royals also had a successful day in doubles, with No. 2 Logan Hubbard and Jackson Bill taking third place, while the No. 1 team of Andrew Spirrison and Daniel Verde placed fourth. No. 1 singles Andrew Orme and No. 2 singles Paul Schneider both took sixth, and No. 3 singles Rohan Golla was seventh.
Guerin Catholic finished in eighth place with three points. The Golden Eagles finished sixth in No. 2 doubles and seventh in No. 2 singles, and were eighth in the other three flights.
