Tennis: ‘Hounds, ‘Rocks get dual meet victories

In an all-county boys tennis dual meet, Carmel swept Hamilton Southeastern 5-0 in a Thursday dual meet at the Royals’ courts.
The Greyhounds’ victory included a first-ever varsity win for freshman Jack Jentz, who teamed with senior John Zirchlebach to take the No. 2 doubles match.

Westfield won a tight dual meet at Zionsville 3-2 on Thursday.
The Shamrocks got their wins from their three singles players. No. 2 singles Quentin Markle won 6-0, 6-2, and No. 3 singles Harrison Sindelar ground out a 6-4, 7-5 victory. With the meet tied at 2-2, No. 1 singles Connor Maris won the second set after dropping the first set in a tiebreaker, then ran away with the third set, 6-0.
“It was a great evening of tennis,” said Westfield coach Tony Peters.
The ‘Rocks are 2-0 and will play at the South Bend St. Joseph Invite this weekend.
