The Indianapolis AlleyCats will host the Pittsburgh Thunderbirds in the American Ultimate Disc League Midwest Finals at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 27 at Westfield High School’s Riverview Health Field.
This is the biggest professional ultimate Frisbee game ever hosted in the Circle City as the winner of this game moves onto the AUDL’s Championship Weekend in San Jose on Aug. 10.
The AlleyCats are Indy’s professional ultimate Frisbee team and an original member of the American Ultimate Disc League. Led by the league’s all-time leading goal scorer Cameron Brock, the team consists of many amazing athletes from local origins and some from outside Naptown, including all world player Brett Matzuka, originally from Hawaii. The AlleyCats clinched the regular season Midwest title at their home in Grand Park Events Center against Chicago on July 6. That win earned them a first-round bye and the right to host the Midwest Division Title game.
The American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) was founded in 2012 and strives to maintain ultimate’s rich history. The league’s 21 franchises embody the robust spirit of ultimate’s players, fans, and community alike. The AUDL’s mission is to increase the visibility of one of North America’s fastest growing sports by creating fun, family-friendly events that showcase the sport being played at its highest level. The AlleyCats will be available after the game to sign autographs for fans.
