Brittany Kelly isn’t back at Hamilton Southeastern High School. This isn’t Ball State golf either. Thursday, Kelly makes her first appearance on the LPGA Tour and it’s a mammoth — The Women’s PGA Championship at historic Hazeltine National Golf Club just outside Minneapolis.
“I almost had tears running down my face,” Kelly said before departing. “You dream about this when you are little growing up.”
Kelly’s big break came at a sleepy February tournament in Florida. With no prior knowledge that the top two finishers secure a spot in the Women’s PGA Championship field, Kelly finished second and punched her ticket.
“It gives me goose bumps,” Kelly said. “It is right around the corner. I get to live my dream and I couldn’t be more excited. I have finally made it. I am going to enjoy it.”
Kelly teed off her opening round at 9:52 a.m. Central Time (10:52 a.m. Eastern) this morning.
