On Friday, May 31, the Hamilton County Traffic Safety Partnership conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint at 146th Street and Edgar Way in Noblesville. Checkpoint operations began at 9:38 p.m. and ended at 11:57 p.m. Operations were suspended several times due to the number of investigations occurring at the checkpoint.
Officers from Partnership agencies checked 80 vehicles throughout the evening. Law enforcement officers administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to six drivers due to initial indicators of the possibility of impaired driving.
Three drivers were arrested for operating while intoxicated, and two of those arrests involved alcohol impairment. A third driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated – drugs and possession of marijuana. Two other drivers were arrested for license problems: One for driving while suspended with a prior conviction and the other for having never received a license.
Drivers were stopped in the checkpoint line for an average of 59 seconds before being released on their way or directed to pull off for further investigation.

The Hamilton County Traffic Safety Partnership (HCTSP) is a consortium of law enforcement agencies in Hamilton County working to increase the usage of seat belts, to combat aggressive driving, and to decrease impaired driving with the overall goal of creating a safer Hamilton County. The HCTSP is comprised of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, Fishers Police Department, Carmel Police Department, Noblesville Police Department, Westfield Police Department and Cicero Police Department, with the assistance of the Indiana State Police.
