Fishers and Noblesville advanced to the Tuesday semi-finals of Sectional 8 at Carmel’s Cherry Tree Softball Complex after first-round wins on Monday.
In the first game, the Tigers beat the host Greyhounds 10-0 in five innings. Fishers scored five runs in the first inning, as Hannah Mays delivered a three-run home run and Kaylee Kardash connected on a two-run homer.
Olivia Stinson went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Brooke Benson was 2-for-3. Mays pitched all five innings, striking out nine and allowing one hit.
Stormy Kotzelnick got Carmel’s hit, a fourth-inning double. The Greyhounds ended their season 13-9.
In the second game, Noblesville defeated Westfield 13-7. The Millers scored seven runs in the first inning, including a three-run home run by Emily Minett, and a two-run single from Maddie Taylor.
Noblesville led 9-1 midway through the second, but the Shamrocks added three runs in the bottom of the second and third innings. Avery Parker got a two-RBI hit in the second inning, and batted in another run in the third.
Taylor hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to get the Millers ahead 10-7, then Ella White opened the seventh inning with a home run, the first of three runs for Noblesville in that inning.
Taylor was 3-for-3 at the plate and drove home five runs. Julia Furiak, Minett and Rylie Moore each had two hits, including a double for Moore. Taylor pitched six innings for the win, tossing eight strikeouts.
Parker and Savannah Arvin each had two hits for Westfield, which finished its season 7-17.
