University wins first-ever softball sectional game

The University softball team made history on Monday, winning its first-ever sectional game.
The Trailblazers beat Providence Cristo Rey 16-3 in five innings at the Covenant Christian sectional. University scored four runs in the first inning, including a two-run single from Elise Nachlis. The ‘Blazers then added 10 runs in the second inning, with Stevens cracking a two-RBI double and Lydia Copeland hitting a two-run single. Sophia Hwang hit a two-RBI single in the third inning.
Copeland and Lillian Klemsz were both 3-for-3 at the plate, with Klemsz batting in three runs. Kendra Stevens pitched all five innings, striking out nine.
University lost its Tuesday semi-final game to Covenant Christian 17-0 in five innings. Copeland and Halle Von Ah each hit one single.
The Trailblazers finished their season 8-8.
