Softball roundup: Royals beat Shamrocks in all-county game

Hamilton Southeastern won an all-county game with Westfield 4-1 Tuesday at the Royals’ field.
The Shamrocks scored in the second inning, when Emily Revercomb singled in Sara Harmeyer. Southeastern scored all of its runs in the fourth inning, starting with an RBI hit from Kaelin Wincek to send Nicole Lang home.
Lillian Leiner gave the Royals the lead when she scored after Olivia Capuano reached on error. Wincek scored on a sacrifice fly by Libby Ratliff, then Abby Taylor batted in Kennedy Morgan.
Wincek and Jordan Rager both had two hits, with Rager getting a double. Jaylah Guilliam pitched five innings for the win, with six strikeouts.
On Monday, Westfield lost to Cathedral 24-8 in a six-inning home game.
The Shamrocks scored six runs in the third inning, including a three-RBI triple by Natalie Deck. Alexis McClure led off the inning with a double, and was eventually scored by Avery Parker’s single. Parker was 2-for-4 at the plate. McClure was 2-for-3.
Southeastern lost to Center Grove 3-1 in a Monday game. The Royals scored in the seventh inning, when Madi Smith was sent home by Leiner’s RBI groundout. Rager had two hits.

Carmel wins high-scoring all-county game with Fishers

Carmel won a high-scoring all-county softball game over Fishers 16-15 Monday at Cherry Tree Softball Complex.
The Tigers led 14-9 before the Greyhounds scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead for good. Maddie Searles was 3-for-4 at the plate, while five other Carmel players had two hits, including Halle Robinson, who hit a third-inning home run. Searles pitched a complete game win.
Olivia Stinson was 4-for-5 for Fishers, while Kaylee Kardash was 3-for-4 with a home run.
Both schools won Tuesday conference games. Fishers beat Franklin Central 7-1 in Hoosier Crossroads Conference play, while Carmel defeated North Central 11-0 in a five-inning Metropolitan Conference contest.
