‘Retirement Journey: Now What?’ partners with Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County

At the monthly meeting on April 9, it was announced that Retirement Journey: Now What? and Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County will be working together to identify resources to support independent lifestyles for seniors in Hamilton County. Guest presenters were Nancy Schell, Director of Operations at Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County, and Jeff Harlow, Act 3 Leader at Northview Church.

Joe Grecu and Steve Nation reviewed the positive feedback received in their meetings with leadership of Shepherd’s Center and the willingness to build upon the mutual goal of enhancing the lives of seniors in Hamilton County through programs, volunteerism and socialization.

Pastor Dick Judson reaffirmed his triage support for those impacted by unexpected early forced retirement or those having difficulty adjusting to this new stage of life.

Jeff Harlow reviewed the Act 3 Program designed to help those in the third stage of life discover their calling as part of an assessment program. Utilizing this tool will aid in identifying passions, interests, skills and lead to discovery of purpose in the retirement years. The goal is to harness the skills and talents of retirees to serve in meeting the immense needs of the growing senior population.

Nancy Schell reviewed current programs at Shepherd’s Center and how they align with the strategies being implemented by Retirement Journey: Now What? Several churches in Hamilton County have expressed interest in being part of this cooperative effort and program rollout.
