The Nickel Plate Express is once again rolling through northern Hamilton County, as it has launched its spring season.

The leisure train held various holiday excursions throughout the winter and is now officially open for the spring season. Saturday is Cinco Express ride where passengers can see the budding trees and enjoy the first sites of spring while listening to some music from south of the border.

While the spring schedule includes family-friendly and adult-themed events with returning favorites like the wine and beer rides, it will also feature new programs such as the Superhero Express where kids can meet their favorite super hero and the Sugar Express with chocolate tasting and treats from a Cicero bakery.

“Nickel Plate Express used some of the winter months to focus on creating new programs that continue to engage the public and increase tourism in northern Hamilton County,” said Dagny Zupin, communications and programs coordinator for Nickel Plate Express. “This summer, we’re looking to expand historical programming on the train while continuing to offer themed events for families and friends to enjoy together.”
