The Noblesville softball team has had a big-hitting week, especially from Ella White.
The sophomore hit four home runs – two in each game – during the Millers’ wins over Mount Vernon 12-5 on Monday, and Hamilton Southeastern 5-4 on Tuesday.
Noblesville and Southeastern were tied at 4-4 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. White was the first to bat, and she wasted no time, hitting a 3-2 pitch over the center field fence. With that, the Millers had a walk-off win.
Both teams scored a run in the first inning. The Royals’ Abby Taylor led off with a double, then Jordan Rager singled her home. Noblesville tied the game when Julia Furiak singled in Chloe Tragesser.
Southeastern added three runs in the second inning. Ava Aguilar singled home Libby Ratliff, then Nicole Lang’s right field hit got Emma Chase and Aguilar in to score.
White hit her first home run of the game to lead off the third inning, cutting HSE’s lead to 4-2. In the fourth inning, Tragesser doubled home two runs, scoring Abigail Harvey and Abby Brown. The score would stay tied at 4-4 until White’s second homer.
Tragesser also got two hits. Maddie Taylor pitched a complete game for the win.
Aguilar had two hits for the Royals.
On Monday, Noblesville had 17 hits in its victory over Mount Vernon. The first was a big one: White hit a home run in the first inning, also scoring Tragesser to put Noblesville up 2-0. Harvey later hit a two-RBI single to score Minett and Kyleigh Lowry.
In the second inning, Minett hit a sacrifice bunt to send Tragesser home. Furiak batted in White; Tragesser and White both hit doubles. Moore singled in Minett, then Harvey batted in Lowry, who was running for Furiak. When the dust settled, the Millers led 8-0.
Noblesville added two runs each in the fourth and the fifth innings. In the fourth, White scored on a passed ball and Harvey singled home Lowry. In the fifth, Tragesser hit her second double, and White smacked her second home of the game to send everyone home.
White finished the game 4-for-5, while Tragesser, Furiak and Harvey all had three hits. Rylie Moore had two hits. Taylor got the pitching win, throwing three innings with five strikeouts.
The Millers are 9-5 and play at 6 p.m. tonight at Avon. Southeastern is 7-6 and hosts Mooresville on Thursday.
