Jimmy Lee Brown

November 1, 1950 – March 25, 2019

Jimmy Lee Brown, 68, Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis, with his family by his side. Jimmy was born on November 1, 1950 in Birmingham, Ala., to Cecil Brown and Ruby (Hall) Brown.

A veteran of the Vietnam War and the Gulf War, Jimmy proudly served his country for more than 40 years, as both a soldier (21 years) and then later as a civil servant (20 years). He retired from the Army as Sergeant Major, U.S. Army Finance School and Regimental Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army Finance Corps at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind. After retiring from the military, he worked as a Financial Analyst at Fort Benjamin Harrison.

Jimmy will be remembered as a feisty soul who was well-liked by many. He enjoyed playing baseball in his earlier years and golf in his later years. Always a true Alabama football fan (Roll Tide!), Jimmy was a proud grandfather who loved spending time with his family, researching family trees and participating in a good political debate.

Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Katrina (David) Bond; son, David Brown; brother, Cecil Ray (Marian) Brown; significant other, Sandee Hawkins; and former spouse and mother of his children, Sherry Brown; as well as three grandchildren and one nephew.

Jimmy is predeceased by his furry dog child, Reece, the apple of his eye.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Indianapolis. Check back later for more details.

The Brown family has entrusted Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary with Jimmy’s care.
