The Noblesville girls track and field team hosted its annual invitational Wednesday.
Homestead won the team championship by scoring 147 points. The Millers were a strong second with 106 points. Lawrence Central placed third (99) and Westfield was fourth (62.5).
Shelby Tyler claimed two first-place finishes for Noblesville. Tyler won the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 10 inches, and soared to a championship in the pole vault, with a winning effort of 11-6.
Tyler was part of the runner-up 4×100 relay team, along with DeLaney Boles, Lindsay Wormuth and Kianna Siefert. Aubrie Deal took second in the 1600, as did Anna Hazelrigg in the 800 run.
“We did really well,” said Millers coach Dennis Scheeler. “The most exciting thing is just a really nice evening and a great meet. Lots of compliments, so the meet went off really well. Competition was really nice. Congratulations to Homestead, they did a great job.
We had some really nice performances. Anna Kiser did a really nice job, 35-8 in the shot, that’s a season best, right at her best. Aubrie Deal in the mile looked pretty solid. Coming off our spring break, two weeks, the girls looked pretty good.”
Westfield’s top finishers were the third-place 4×800 relay team of Ashley Baldwin, Macey Coots, Alyssa Schleper and Julia Clark. ChristyAnn Delahunty placed fourth in the 1600 run, as did Hannah Fife in the 200 dash, Sophia Brown in the 800 run, Clark in the 3200 run and the 4×100 team of Haley Boehm, Jayden Hammes, Alison Bullock and Ava Martin.
