The Hamilton Heights track and field teams hosted their annual Big Orange Meet on Saturday.
In the girls meet, the Huskies placed second with 122 points, behind only winner Lebanon’s 130.5. Guerin Catholic finished fourth with a score of 61.83 points.
Heights had six event wins. Maria Mitchell was an individual champion in two events, setting a new record in the 1600 run of 5:16.87, and taking the 3200 run as well. Kelsey Smith was also a double winner, pacing the 400 dash and finishing first in the high jump. The Huskies also won the 4×400 relay (in a new record time of 4:13.79) and the 4×800 relay.
Guerin Catholic placed second in the 4×400 relay, its best finish in the girls meet.
Heights placed third in the boys meet by scoring 70.5 points, and the Golden Eagles were fourth with 68 points. Guerin Catholic did have an event champion: Billy Freudenthal won the 300 hurdles.
The Huskies had three runner-up finishes: Preston Miller in the 800 run, Mitchell Walbolt in the 1600 run and the 4×800 relay.
