White River Fire catches the spirit of community service

On Saturday, the White River Township Volunteer Fire Department held the annual Dan’s Fish Fry.

Nancy Brown, who we are calling the Queen of Pies, was kind enough to pose next to the most popular table at the event. The Reporter found her hard at work keeping a plethora of homemade pies available for patrons. (Reporter photo by Stu Clampitt)

White River Township Trustee Jamie Rulon told The Reporter that over 500 meals were served at each of the last two annual events, and only 30 minutes in, this year looked just as popular. Rulon said this event started in the 1970s.

“It’s great community service for our people,” Rulon said. “Community service is everything to us.”

Funds raised at the fish fry help pay for fire department expenses not covered by the township.

If you missed this one and want to mark your calendars now, the next fish fry at White River Township Fire Department will be held Saturday, April 4, 2020.
