Hamilton Heights dropped the second game of a two-game series with Anderson 1-0 Friday at the Indians’ Memorial Park.
Anderson scored its run in the first inning. Dylan Zachary pitched an incredible game for the Huskies, throwing all six innings and allowing Anderson just one hit. Zachary tossed six strikeouts.
“We had six hits over seven innings but just couldn’t get the timely one we needed,” said Heights coach JR Moffatt. “We were solid defensively but really showed our youth at the plate tonight. Too many strikeouts, period. Pratt is a really good pitcher with a good arm and solid command. We have to find a way to get the ball in play. He made key pitches and we just didn’t respond. It’s early, we will get better.”
The coach said he felt for Zachary – “he was great,” said Moffatt. “He threw six innings giving up one hit and one unearned run, tough not to have him walk away with a W.
The Huskies are back in action Tuesday when it begins a Hoosier Conference series at Western.
“The only thing this means is that we are not going undefeated,” said Moffatt. “It’s a long season and we will get back to work tomorrow.”
